Mobile phones will never need recharging, cars will never have to be refuelled. This hard-to-believe vision of a free, energy source was announced in an advert in the Economist and first reported by the British press in last week’s Observer. Dublin-based Steorn challenged the world’s ‘most qualifi ed and the most cynical’ scientists to put its technology, based on magnetic interaction, to the test.
