Their message is “its going to happen, get used to it, whether you want it, like it, or not”. Only Ron Paul, among Republicans, opposes this, and I doubt any Democrats. Both the 10th and 4th ammendments are violated by REAL ID, and one of the leading opponents is the rather conservative CATO Institute’s James Harper, who insists that the Federal government is blackmailing the states, using threats and intimidation against the citizens (restrictions on travel, etc.). IF REAL ID IS PERMITTED TO STAND AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL, IN ANY FORM AT ALL, IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. IT IS NOT A FUNDING ISSUE, BUT A CONSTITUTIONAL ISSUE. IT WILL CHANGE “OUR WAY OF LIFE” MORE THAN ANY TERRORIST EVER COULD, AND “ISLAMO FASCISTS” ARE NOT THE ONES THREATENING OUR FREEDOM. IT IS LEGISLATED FEDERAL FASCISM THAT IS DOING THIS.

Consider this, that the “quartering of soldiers” during the American revolution that was resisted can now be accomplished by electronic surveillance technology–a “virtual quartering of soldiers” that marks “free Americans” as “suspicious” and pre-books them as criminal suspects. This also violates the presumption of legal innocence for a presumption of guilt unless one complies with revoking their rights “voluntarily” as a condition to drive or fly!

Another important point is the absolute zeal candidates have for “biometrics” as the latest Savior and Security Solution, which is basically a New Toy that will eat out the finances of Government budgets at both State and Federal level. ANY REPRESENTATIVE THAT VOTES FOR MANDATORY BIOMETRICS THAT OWNS STOCK IN THESE COMPANIES (OR MUTUAL FUNDS) SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AN UNETHICAL CONFLICT OF INTEREST, SINCE THOSE OFFICIALS ARE INVESTING IN THE VERY TECHNOLOGY THEY INTEND TO LEGISLATE ON US, WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT, TO THEIR OWN FINANCIAL BENEFIT. (Biometrics stocks will soar, and the Lobbyists have “inside information” for the government officers personal and group pension plans that are investing in this “sure bet” that they push the government to invest in. This will be the largest increasing in Government Spending since the computer rampage!)

Over 33 states are not going to comply for some reason or other, thus far. This shows how out of step the Republican candidates with the average citizen, especially given that Republicans have been the lead opponents of this legislation at the State level. Yet, only 1 of 10 republican candidates opposes REAL and/or biometric IDs of some kind or form. (One candidate on the video stated he was against National ID, but the reporter did not ask about REAL ID specifically. Many Congressional representatives who voted for the bill parroted the response that REAL ID was “not a national ID card”, a mere semantic argument that overlooks the facts.)

Finally, it is worth noting that the candidate other than Paul who opposed national ID stated that that we should “just use the Social(ist) Security Number”, even though the Social Security Act and the cards themselves claimed to be “not for identification purposes”. WE NEED LEGISLATION THAT BANS THE USE OF THE SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER , FOR ID OR DATA-MINING PURPOSES, AS AN ID REQUIRED FOR A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT, OBTAINING UTILITIES OR SERVICES, OR OBTAINING DRIVERS LICENSES AND OTHER GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS OTHER THAN SOCIAL SECURITY! Most medical services require this as a condition to be seen as a patient. Why? For both credit and billing purposes (i.e. collections) and also for their medical data-base shared with government agencies, upon demand.

Duncan Hunter shifted craftily on this issue. It took me no longer than “15 minutes” to know that he would find a way to obtain compliance from the States. NO OTHER CANDIDATE THAN RON PAUL CAN BE TRUSTED TO REPEAL OR RESCIND REAL ID AS PRESIDENT AND REMOVE THE SOCIAL SECURITY DATA-MINING SYSTEM FROM AMERICANS LIVES.
