CE was an even closer relation of QE than of Ph; QE and Ph were cousins at least twice over and both their family origins were German. But this is generally known.
The tv programme was surprisingly sympathetic to CE, who certainly ought to have understood, just supposing that he did not, the wickedness of Nazi policies towards the defenceless. But ‘guilt by association’ is a very dangerous game to play.
Ph fought against Hitler for Britain; his mother in Athens sheltered a Jewish couple all through the German occupation. (No-one told Prince Harry that?) ‘Guiltless by association’ also does not apply.
To wish that others, however wicked, go to their graves without repenting is unchristian; I suppose that is what the last sentence of the first comment means — contrary to what it actually says!
I have been unable to find on family trees on the Internet the granddaughter and greatgrandson of CE who appeared on the tv programme.

With a name like mine Philip Andrew,and having abit of respect for Australias Doctor Peter Hollingsworth of the Brotherhood of ST.Laurence Melbourne ,and then Governor General of Australia under Monarchist John Howard..this stuff is a eye opener and truly disgusting..the pretence of all this is the oil of our present democracy and it is obviously loaded with deep destructive morality of farce.God cannot be held responsible for this connivance that has perpetuated so many wasted lives at war.And Godless we are!?May the miserable bastards go to their burial sinless.
