Padre Pio displays his stigmata

Relatives denounced the plan as “uncivilized.”

Padre Pio’s body to be exhumed, venerated

San Giovanni Rotondo, Jan. 7, 2008 (CWNews.com) – The body of Padre Pio will be exhumed and exposed for public veneration during the coming year, the local archbishop has announced.

The plan to exhume the body of the beloved Capuchin saint has already encountered stiff resistance from some of Padre Pio’s living relatives, who denounced the plan as “uncivilized.”

Archbishop Domenico D’Ambrosio said that the body of Padre Pio would be available for public veneration in 2008, for the 40th anniversary of his death. Each year close to 1 million pilgrims travel to the shrine of the saint at San Giovanni Rotondo.

The timing of the public veneration has not yet been established. Church officials are apparently waiting for expert advice on the exhumation of the saint’s remains and the preservation of his body.

But Pia Forgione, a niece of Padre Pio, has initiated legal action to stop the exhumation. In an appeal to an Italian court she argued that the archbishop does not have proper authority to put the saint’s remains on public display.

Archbishop D’Ambrosio said that his plan has the approval of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Causes of Saints. He explained that he saw a “duty to allow future generations the chance to venerate the mortal remains of St. Pio of Pietrelcina.” Part of the reason for the exhumation, he said, is to ensure proper preservation of those remains. Padre Pio, who lived from 1887 to 1968, gained an international reputation for holiness during his lifetime. Thousands of people reported miracles after meeting with the famous monk, who apparently enjoyed extraordinary spiritual gifts including the stigmata and discernment of souls. The reports of miracles attributed to his intercession multiplied after his death, and devotion to Padre Pio continued to spread.

Padre Pio was canonized by Pope John Paul II (bio – news) in 2002, with an estimated 2 million people attending the Vatican ceremony.

What is “the discernment of souls?”

Was this the one accused of buying acid from the drug store to give himself stigmata?

I just want to be cremated so nothing left to mess with.

The discernment of souls is a tremendous gift – involving an ability to read the souls of people in the confessional, or indeed anywhere. People suppress things, or suppress their conscience – and they suffer, because somewhere deep down their hearts know the truth – ask any psychiatrist! Holy ones like Saint Pio restored such people to right relations with God by identifying what they had left unrepented, unconfessed – or identifying ‘bad’ confessions (eg where something was deliberately omitted) and leading the person to acknowledge the truth, and find true remorse for these sins – being restored to a state of grace, and better able to experience the Love of God.
Not mentioned above, but proven, was St Pio’s ability to bi-locate – a gift also given to St Gerard Majella I believe. For many years St Pio couldn’t leave St Giovanni Rotundo – but many miraculous cures were heralded by the appearance of a monk – seen by people (including young children) who had never met the Saint – but confirmed as him by those who knew his features, and who received detailed descriptions of the ‘visitor’. St Pio used to tell his ’spiritual children’ to send him their Angels (each of us having a Guardian Angel) when they needed his guidance! He was an amazing person, and if any of this interests you dear reader – do please google him ! there are many books about his life and his experiences of Satan (one of the scarier aspects of being very holy). One written by an Irish journalist (I think) who knew St Pio very well, and visited him often.

As always, people continue to try in disproving that the stigmata was not genuine. IT WAS! Acid leaves an entierley different type of affect on the body. His wounds have been there till the day of his death. What he went through was his love for his fellow brothers and sisters, heck for all mankind. His heart was to intercede for us to Our Lord and God Jesus Christ.

    Total bullshit.

Quid? What is the story of Padre Pio? (I am a new Catholic) I think stigmata is the thing of nightmares. Please enlighten me.
Peace be with you. Rachel G.

You need to enlighten yourself by reading as many points of view as possible to come to your own conclusions. You can use this blog as a resource. I recommend reading the articles in the Vatican, Christianity, Illuminati, Secret Societies and Occult Agenda categories. Then also you should click through the various Alternative News and Illuminati Research links. That will keep you busy and put you on a path of discovery. And while you are at it, read as many related books as possible. Just keep digging at the truth and eventually it takes shape.

As a religious scholar…Most catholic beliefs are based on pagen beliefs that have been added by the Romans.

Don’t fall pray…You have the Bible the Tourah and the Quran…and you have access to history…Do your reading. before believing.

Like Islam says blind faith is not allowed…you must explore and confirm them with logic and human nature.

Back to the point..sorry about my random ramps….

Exhuming bodies…..DO I EVEN NEED TO SAY ANYTHING TO THAT???

How could … How could anyone justify exhuming anyone.

Religion is mind-control manipulation. Religion is a business. Religion is based on lies, half-truths and fear. Especially fear. Religion perverts and distorts the natural mind and makes ignorant slaves of its believers. That is its only purpose.

“As a religious scholar…Most catholic beliefs are based on pagen beliefs that have been added by the Romans.”

If you were a scholar you would provide evidence for your claims. The early Church (ie, the Catholic Church) Christianized paganism and not the other way around.

And how about the black stone and the Kaaba in Arabia? Is there no connection between these and the tribal polytheistic religions of pre-Islam Arabia?

You have poor writing for a scholar.

“Religion is mind-control manipulation. Religion is a business. Religion is based on lies, half-truths and fear. Especially fear. Religion perverts and distorts the natural mind and makes ignorant slaves of its believers. That is its only purpose.”

And atheism’s consequences are expressed in communist societies like the 20th century USSR and modern day human-rights-abusing China. Atheism, or irreligion, is also a hallmark of the fictional dystopias of Orwell’s “1984″ and Huxley’s “Brave New World”. I think that atheist Jean Paul Sartre was right on target when he concluded that without God, life is absurd.

Rachel, welcome to the one true Church. Do not be too disheartened when you read about the conspiracies surrounding the Catholic Church. The infiltration of the Church by Satanic elements is foretold in prophecies and apparitions. Refer to the visions of St John Bosco and Pope Leo XIII regarding Satan’s attack on the Church in these, what seem to be, last days. Also, refer to the Marian apparitions at Fatima and La Salette.

If you want to discuss Catholic issues and explore the faith, free from attacks by atheists and practitioners of false religions, visit FishEaters.com. God bless.

“Was this the one accused of buying acid from the drug store to give himself stigmata?”

The carbolic acid was used to disinfect needles. Due to a shortage of physicians in South Italy, St Pio had to administer shots to the children under his care during the Spanish flu pandemic.

hey guys can anyone tell me where islam come from? like its basic roots…
kinda how Christianity comes from pagan religions explanation…

  • Daniel // March 18, 2009 at 3:16 pm

Acid!? When Reverand Pio died, the wounds were miraculously healed as in the case of St. Francis; there was no visible evidense that he had the stigmata at all! Acid would leave permanent scarring. Also, look at his exumed body…; it looks as if he is sleeping with NO decay at all! This, in itself, is proof that he was no ordinary man.

  • george // April 11, 2009 at 5:15 am

and who is it to say that that is his actual body?
either way, why do we fascinate ourselves with dead body of a good man when we can be that man ourselves?

  • Jacob // April 25, 2009 at 1:16 am

We actually honor the Saints not fascinate ourselves with dead body of a good man.

  • France Beaudoin // May 5, 2009 at 5:11 pm

If you don’t believe in Padre Pio, then why are you reading this article??? Leave the Catholics in peace. We do not bother anyone. It amazes me how much hatred people have against people who believe in God, Jesus and holy individuals.
    We only want peace.

  • Bechir Hasbani // June 13, 2009 at 7:49 pm

    Padre Pio, pray for us.

I ever heard about this stigmata. I believe in miracle, I believe in Jesus. But I’m sorry, I don’t believe stigmata, I don’t understand the aim to do it.

I want to give quote for someone above who wrote this :

“Don’t fall pray…You have the Bible the Tourah and the Quran…and you have access to history…Do your reading. before believing.

Like Islam says blind faith is not allowed…you must explore and confirm them with logic and human nature.”

I’m sorry dear, but for me Faith is a Gift.
Thx Jesus I’ve been given gift to believe in Him, even I never see him. “Blind Faith”. Yes I do.
Because I believe Him, that is why I want to learn about Him more, in the bible.
