Tony Blair is a popular choice to become the first president of the European Union, according to a pan-Europe opinion poll.
The Financial Times Harris poll, carried out in five countries, showed that most Europeans would like to see a prominent political figure as EU president.
The post, created under the Lisbon Treaty, comes into effect next year.
Fifty per cent of Britons backed a high-profile figure, rising to around 80 per cent in France, Italy and Spain. Only the Germans were less enthusiastic, with 45 per cent favouring a political star.
Mr Blair scored well inside and outside his own country. Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, was the only other figure to enjoy the same widespread popularity, and she is not a candidate.
In France, after backing from President Nicolas Sarkozy, Mr Blair had a 12 per cent support rating. It rose to around 17 per cent in Italy.
The survey was a blow to candidates such as Jean-Claude Juncker, the prime minister of Luxembourg, and Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Danish prime minister.

I wonder what kind of people were polled for this and why is there no link to the polling agency’s website so everybody can see ALL the figures themselves.
Just saying the majority of EU citizens want Blair as president and printing a couple of vague numbers is not exactly what i call ‘good journalism’. What i would rather call it is ‘pro eu propaganda’ trying to mislead the masses so the masses will go where they think ‘the majority’ wants to go too.

I agree with you that it is propaganda, but I am not here to promote propaganda. I am here to expose it and put it into the right context which is what this blog is all about. I just share with you what the elite are saying about their agenda and allow others to think it though for themselves. People need to do their own research and thinking on these kinds of issues.
I did my own search, didn’t see anything on Harris either and only came up with the FT news link added above. Since the FT printed the same story and Harris is part of FT, then surely they will get around to publishing the results on the Harris site. If not in the next few days, then it appears even more suspicious.

i don’t know about any of you, but, quite frankly, the article in question seems to me very cleverly, and misleadingly, written…. what i mean exactly is that the writer omits data that would clarify, or for that matter, elaborate his claims with more, and i stress, crucial detail…
for example, he uses “popular choice” first and pins it on tony blair, but then he uses “high profile figure” and only pins it to voting percentages greater than 40…. later, he only qualifies blair to “score well inside and outside his country”, and only equates him with merkel but only on the score of “enjoying the same widespread popularity”, which of course begs the question of what this claimed popularity means with reference to overall poll questions and percentages of votes….. so it seems to me, one is left in utter darkness as to what blair’s popularity has to do with a majority of votes for a candidate for EU presidency!!!…. in short, and i apologize for being soooooo analytical, the article is peculiar more for what it doesn’t say that it is expected to say than for what it says that it is not expected to say….. sins of omission, indeed, and with a vengeance!!!!

Germany leaves open door for Tony Blair EU presidential election
We have only today threaded a stinking article about the decrapid, crooked corrupted bench mark – ethical practice not just in Britain – across the EU. The issue of the food crises and the family.
In the past similar articles. All those from the Fraternal and church establishment – relevant institutions who say we ought not to get involved.
The small Seychelles, Mauritius and the African governments like Kenya, Somali, Zimbabwe – their economic and political situation. Those in the world, who spend massive resources and funds, time to point to the world the defects of those governments and their leaders.
Today in the financial Time, the issue that Germany is leaving the door open for Tony Blair to become the first EU president – but will not get the German people to support him.
The same media like the financial Times, God knows where they get their information from – such articles which supported the argument of the WDM in Iraq and the West need to go to war.
We want to publicly address Chancellor Merkle, her Cabinet, the German Opposition, the SDP FD, and the New Left of Oscar Lafontaine. There exist very important percentages in the world that listen and heed what we talk about and have to say. There are very many important political and economic issues relating the German politic we have not addressed the greater public about. Not because of the German ethical practice. But because of our ethical and working practice.
We have said and stated many times that our Seychelles EU community still manage and control many important aspect of the EU political mechanism of the German Reunification, the former COMECON, the USSR, the Community enlargement politic – not Seychelles government of James Michel or FA Rene or Tony Blair.
Because of a number of very important issues which still need to be resolved we have not taken down the many photos of the Blair from our Islington/London place – beside the ex bits and pieces from their Islington former House. This link with our Seychelles EU community archaic/fraternal interests is causing, bringing about very important positive benefit to Tony Blair – which the British establishment refuse to acknowledge. They do know how it works. For the greater British public who support Tony Blair EU presidency – we have this to say. We do not owe you or anybody anything. We have helped build this country from bankruptcy, we have brought – help created massive wealth the people have never said thank you. Instead Tony Blair attempts to have me twice killed or deported to the USA. Over the past 25 years we have been involved I helping to get elected and elect many like Tony Blair to their respective Offices and positions. Because we have the experience, the knowledge and know well in advance how a given individual and head of state will perform – Tony Blair record – our community will not lending #g its support to get him elected as the first EU President.
Then there is the issue of money – Tony Blair is all about money and power. Our Seychelles EU community know al about the strapping of money and power. We how much it cost to get the best PR company to support a political campaign or for that matter how much the EU commission will have to spend to get him elected. Why should our Seychelles EU community take a silver/gold platter and hand the EU nation /citizens as the first President of EU – let him pay. If does not offer any money we will not support him.
Further more it must not be forgotten over the past 10 years all the efforts he and his government have done to thwart the development and progress of our community work in Britain and the EU and Seychelles.
This thread is equally addressed to French Jewish/ Romanian/French president Sarkosy. We will not let him use our community for his dirty politic and purpose.
This thread is also for Silvio Berlusconi. We have got involved in the past in very many important issues of the Italian nation and economy -, he and his government have benefited. We will not let him or anybody use our community to further their dirty political l interest.
We will not support the corrupted bench mark , practice of others do the dirty work in this case our community – then the EU media tell lies to the citizens of EU, the old woman and old man and the rest of the world. We will not continue to support this terrible practice as we have in the past.

The EU is not “your” community. It is nothing more than an empire, a tool of the elite to further their control over your life. The War on Terror is a war on you. Global Warming is also another invention of the elite Club of Rome, naming you, the human being, as the enemy. Get with the program and understand what they are doing to you.
