They could all step down, from Bhumibol in Thailand to Juan Carlos in Spain, but they won't. They will cling to their special "genetically superior" status, wealth and power to the bitter end. Stepping down would just prove that they are no better than anyone else and they can't do that because this charade has gone on for so many thousands of years. They have to maintain it into the 21st century for this reason, but more importantly, they like this power scam and can't bear the thought of giving it up. Exactly.
