Homeowners face punishment for carbon crimes

Daily Mail | Mar 14, 2007

Just as Tony Blair lied us into Iraq, he is lying us into the Global Warming Religion. Both the bogus War on Terror and the Global Warming hoax are designed to set up a New World Order by manipulating both the Left and the Right into giving up their rights, sovereignty, their standard of living (or the chance to improve one’s standard of living in developing countries), to justify financial rape and the depopulation agenda of the globalists. So if you want to be awake and aware of the big picture, step out of the false Right/Left paradigm and wake everyone else up now!

Blair: UK will lead the world in climate change fight

Mr Blair compared the fight against climate change to the battle against fascism.

Homeowners who refuse to make their properties energy efficient will face financial penalties under drastic government plans to transform Britain into the world’s first ‘green’ economy.

Ministers yesterday promised deep cuts to greenhouse gas emissions that they warned would mean everyone in the country having to ‘live, work and travel differently’.

They compared the scale of change that was necessary to reduce emissions by 60 per cent by 2050 to the industrial revolution of the 18th century.

The Government said that every new home should be ‘carbon neutral’ within ten years – and existing properties subject to a ‘home energy audit’ to assess how green they are.

Householders would be given access to ‘hassle-free’ renovation services to improve the energy efficiency of their homes. They would be able to ‘buy now, pay later’ for green improvements as their fuel bills decreased.

Zero carbon homes are insulated to reduce heating costs, use solar panels, windpower or other renewable energy sources, are made with environmentally friendly materials and use energy efficient light bulbs and appliances.

Critics said the plans raised the prospect of ‘eco-snoopers’ inspecting homes.

Blair Gibbs, of the Taxpayers’ Alliance, said: “It’s bad enough that politicians want to take so much of our money away in tax. For them also to intrude into our homes in order to have the ability to penalise us even further is simply unacceptable.”

Mental illness common in returning soldiers

Reuters | Mar 13, 2007

High rates of mental health disorders are being diagnosed among US military personnel soon after being released from duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to investigators in San Francisco.

They estimate that out of 103,788 returning veterans, 25 percent had a mental health diagnosis, and more than half of these patients had two or more distinct conditions.

Those most at risk were the youngest soldiers and those with the most combat exposure, Dr. Karen H. Seal at the Veterans Administration Medical Center and associates report in the Archives of Internal Medicine.

Seal’s group based their findings on records of US veterans deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan who were seen at VA health care facilities between September 2001 and September 2005.

In addition to the high rate of mental health disorders, about one in three (31 percent) were affected by at least one psychosocial diagnosis.

The most frequent diagnosis was post-traumatic stress disorder. Other diagnoses included anxiety disorder, depression, substance use disorder, or other behavioral or psychosocial problem.

The researchers observed very little difference between men and women, racial and ethnic subgroups, and those on active duty and National Guard or Reserves.

“The youngest group of active duty veterans (age, 18 to 24 years) had a significantly higher risk of receiving one or more mental health diagnoses and posttraumatic stress disorder compared with active duty veterans 40 years or older,” Seal and her colleagues write.

Environmentalism Religion Rather Than Science, Says Czech Leader

CNS News | Mar 12, 2007

gw-inquisition1

Centralized planners seeking to “rule from above” are operating under the guise of environmentalism and other fashionable “isms” in a bid to attack freedom and liberty, Czech President Vaclav Klaus said here.

Addressing an audience at the CATO Institute in Washington, D.C., on Friday, Klaus argued that although communism has been eradicated in Eastern Europe, there are renewed efforts in this new century to reintroduce statist schemes.

Those who have experienced the absence of freedom in their lifetimes have a “special sensitivity” to dangerous and disturbing trends at work in Europe and America, Klaus said.

He identified what he said were three main “internal challenges” to freedom.

Fashionable and trendy “isms” like environmentalism seek to “radically re-organize human society” in a way that is detrimental to the freedoms that were secured just 17 years ago when Soviet communism fell, he argued.

Proponents of the environmental ideology were attempting to sell the public on “catastrophic scenarios” that could be used to justify the restoration of statist practices, he said.

“The hypothesis of global warming, and the role of man, is the most powerful embodiment of environmental ideology,” Klaus observed. Although the environmental movement invokes science as a way of advancing policy goals, the arguments in favor of catastrophe rest on “ill-founded assumptions,” he said.

“Environmentalism is a religion. It does not belong in the natural sciences and is more connected with social science.”

Klaus said very few politicians and journalists understand that environmentalism is a political ideology masquerading as a natural science.

Other “isms” that he argued pose threats to order include “social democratism,” “human rightism,” “internationalism” and “multi-culturalism.” These movements all proceed from a desire to “centrally organize, mastermind, regulate and control society,” he said.

Freedom is also threatened by the drive toward global governance, the Czech leader argued. He said he had misgivings about the European Union and moves towards de-nationalizing countries.

Freedom in Europe is best secured over the long term, Klaus said, through a parliamentary democracy that exists within “a clearly defined state territory.”

Those who are armed with the “special sensitivity” of having lived under communism see the trend toward “supranationalism” as incompatible with freedom and individual liberty, he said.

Klaus told Cybercast News Service he was not sure that the current generation of young people can ever fully appreciate what living conditions were like not so long ago in communist regimes.

For that reason, the centralized controlling agenda he associates with such ideologies as environmentalism tends to go largely undetected, he said.

A “New World Order” With Warming “Deniers” Threatened

Kath.net | Mar 13, 2007

Czech President: “Religion” of Environmentalism a way of “masterminding human society from above”

The general appreciation for taking care of the earth’s resources, of being stewards of creation is being exploited to drive a political and even mythological system of environmentalism. The President of the Czech Republic spoke at the Cato Institute Friday calling “environmentalism” a “religion”, and warning against the hysteria being generated by ‘global warming’ enthusiasts.

“All of us are very much in favour of maximum environmental protection and protection of nature,” said President Vaclav Klaus during a follow-up interview for a Cato podcast. “But it has nothing in common with environmentalism, which is ideological and practically attacking our freedom.”

Environmentalism is, he said “a way of introducing new forms of statism, new forms of masterminding human society from above.” The Czech President noted that the citizens of his nation experienced communism first hand giving them awareness of agendas of domination. It is, he said, “something we feel very strongly about because our experience with communism gives us very special sensitivity in this respect.”

Almost as if on queue, Gordon Brown, likely to replace Tony Blair as the next British prime minister, delivered a speech today calling for a “new world order” to combat global warming. He called on the United Nations to make the fight against global warming a core “pillar” of its international mission.

The warnings of President Klaus come as no surprise to the pro-life movement which has warned for years that Kyoto and similar proposals to counter global warming have at their core a population control agenda.

According to scientists who contest the science behind global warming, the faithful followers of the environmentalist religion do not sanction dissent. Timothy Ball, a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, told the Sunday Telegraph that he has received five deaths threats by email since raising concerns about the degree to which man was affecting climate change.

“I can tolerate being called a sceptic because all scientists should be sceptics, but then they started calling us deniers, with all the connotations of the Holocaust,” said Ball. “That is an obscenity. It has got really nasty and personal.”

The Telegraph also reports that Richard Lindzen, the professor of Atmospheric Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently stated that: “Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves labelled as industry stooges.” Dr Myles Allen, from Oxford University, concurred: “The Green movement has hijacked the issue of climate change. It is ludicrous to suggest the only way to deal with the problem is to start micro managing everyone, which is what environmentalists seem to want to do.”

Firefighters Urge “Peeling Of Giuliani’s 9/11 Onion”

Infowars.net | March 12, 2007

Spokesman for largest Firefighters’ union speaks out

To this day the remains of hundreds of innocent victims of the September 11 attacks are still sickeningly buried in the world’s largest rubbish dump , on Staten Island, where it has been decalred by New York officials that they will stay for ever. Officials, citing financial constraints, have refused to make any concessions and wish to leave those victims to rot in the ground with acres of stinking trash.

The press secretary of the biggest firefighters’ union, the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) has today shed more light on the furor surrounding last week’s press coverage of Giuliani’s snubbing of the firefighters invitation to an upcoming presidential candidate forum.

Alex Jones was joined on air today by IAFF’s Jeff Zack, who revealed in no uncertain terms that the image of Giuliani as some sort of a 9/11 hero could not be further from the truth as far as the firefighters of New York are concerned.

Last week the AP reported:

After Giuliani pulled out of a planned appearance at an International Association of Firefighters presidential forum next week, the group released a stinging draft letter indicating that it almost didn’t invite him at all because of continuing anger at his “despicable” role in pulling firefighters off the Twin Towers’ debris pile in 2001 before all hope of finding their dead comrades’ remains was exhausted.

“The disrespect that he exhibited to our 343 fallen FDNY brothers, their families, and our New York leadership in the wake of that tragic day has not been forgiven or forgotten,” said the three-page letter, drafted by union leaders in late February and first disclosed on Newsday’s Web site Thursday.

Mexico’s Carlos Slim may overtake U.S. billionaires

Houston Chronicle | Mar 13, 2007

carlos-slim

Some in Mexico resent him as he approaches wealth of Gates, Buffett

His success inspires anger among Mexicans who resent the concentration of wealth in the hands of the nation’s relatively tiny elite.

The world’s third-richest man, Carlos Slim, is gaining rapidly on Bill Gates and Warren Buffet with a fortune that grew $19 billion last year — the largest wealth gain in the past decade tracked by Forbes magazine.

It’s also a sign of the wealth gap in Mexico’s monopoly-laden economy.

Since Slim bought the telephone monopoly in a 1991 privatization, he’s used Telmex as a cash cow to build an empire that includes Latin America’s largest mobile phone company; provides banking, brokerage and Internet services; sells insurance and oil industry equipment; and operates retail stores and restaurants.

To many Mexicans, who make Slim richer with nearly every phone call or trip to the mall, his rise shows their businessmen can run world-class companies. He’s widely praised for turning Telmex — once notorious for taking months or years to install a phone line — into a modern, professional operation.

But he also has kept phone rates high in a country where the minimum wage is about 50 cents an hour, and his success inspires anger among Mexicans who resent the concentration of wealth in the hands of the nation’s relatively tiny elite.

Living on $2 a day

“Why should we want a few people to hoard all the wealth, if the majority of Mexicans don’t have enough to eat and 30 million Mexicans live on less than 22 pesos ($2) a day?” thundered former leftist presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador after Slim’s jump to No. 3 on Forbes’ list of billionaires announced last week.

Now worth an estimated $49 billion, the 67-year-old Slim is the son of a Lebanese father who built a small family fortune from retailing.

An entrenched elite

New President Felipe Calderon has promised to battle monopolistic practices, but past efforts to do that have been thwarted by Mexico’s entrenched elite.

Slim faces a potential challenge in the telecom sector from the Televisa network, which controls about 70 percent of Mexico’s broadcast market and is looking to extend its dominance in emerging communications systems that integrate telephone, television and Internet transmissions.

“This could be a destabilizing factor. It could readjust the players on the chess board,” said Celso Garrido, an economics professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

But even there, Slim stands to gain — his fortune includes shares in Televisa and one of his sons sits on Televisa’s board.

Slim is on track to overtake the two leading Americans on the billionaires list, particularly since Buffet ($52 billion), who made his money running the Berkshire Hathaway investment fund, and Gates ($56 billion), who founded Microsoft Corp., are more focused these days on giving their fortunes away.

Gates, who set up the world’s richest charity foundation, has said he believes “that with great wealth comes great responsibility, a responsibility to give back to society.” Buffett joined in last year, promising to send about $1.5 billion every year to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has an endowment of $33 billion.

Slim was reportedly ready to announce new philanthropy of his own. Telmex already sponsors a foundation that supports education and social programs in Mexico, and the billionaire’s investments in Mexico City’s downtown led to urban renewal in the central zone.

Slim told local media last year that he planned to give between $2.5 billion and $4 billion of his fortune.

But he is still expanding an increasingly diversified empire that now involves his three sons, and he doesn’t appear ready to focus on philanthropy.

Scientists Receive Death Threats For Questioning Man’s Role in Global Warming

Newsbusters | Mar 11, 2007

Think those advancing anthropogenic global warming theories are serious about their views? Well, an article from Sunday’s Telegraph should scare every person around the world about the zealotry and danger surrounding this issue:

Scientists who questioned mankind’s impact on climate change have received death threats and claim to have been shunned by the scientific community.

They say the debate on global warming has been “hijacked” by a powerful alliance of politicians, scientists and environmentalists who have stifled all questioning about the true environmental impact of carbon dioxide emissions.

Shocked? Astounded? That’s only the beginning:

Timothy Ball, a former climatology professor at the University of Winnipeg in Canada, has received five deaths threats by email since raising concerns about the degree to which man was affecting climate change.

One of the emails warned that, if he continued to speak out, he would not live to see further global warming.

Why is this happening in Ball’s view:

“Western governments have pumped billions of dollars into careers and institutes and they feel threatened,” said the professor.

“I can tolerate being called a sceptic because all scientists should be sceptics, but then they started calling us deniers, with all the connotations of the Holocaust. That is an obscenity. It has got really nasty and personal.”

Other well-known skeptics agreed with Ball:

Richard Lindzen, the professor of Atmospheric Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology – who also appeared on the documentary – recently claimed: “Scientists who dissent from the alarmism have seen their funds disappear, their work derided, and themselves labelled as industry stooges.

“Consequently, lies about climate change gain credence even when they fly in the face of the science.”

Dr Myles Allen, from Oxford University, agreed. He said: “The Green movement has hijacked the issue of climate change. It is ludicrous to suggest the only way to deal with the problem is to start micro managing everyone, which is what environmentalists seem to want to do.”

Nigel Calder, a former editor of New Scientist, said: “Governments are trying to achieve unanimity by stifling any scientist who disagrees. Einstein could not have got funding under the present system.”

It’s getting scary out there, folks.
