It remains unclear how many times the ground-based laser was tested against U.S. spacecraft or whether it was successful.
But the combination of China’s efforts and advances in Russian satellite jamming capabilities illustrate vulnerabilities to the U.S. space network are at the core of U.S. Air Force plans to develop new space architectures and highly classified systems, according to sources.

Falwell: Hillary Better Than Lucifer

The architect of one of the biggest corporate frauds in US history has been sentenced to only six years in prison, four years less than the maximum, under a plea deal the former Enron chief financial officer made with prosecutors. Andrew Fastow will also serve two years under home supervision, US District Judge Kenneth Hoyt ruled. Fastow choked back tears as he told the judge he was remorseful for the suffering he caused. He said he accepted his punishment “without bitterness”, and turned to the lone shareholder who testified against him and offered an apology. “I cannot undo the harm I have caused,” Fastow told the court, saying he was now ashamed of what he had done.
Once vilified as the cause of Enron’s bankruptcy, Fastow worked to help the prosecutors go after other Enron executives who refused to admit wrongdoing.

Bin Laden is alive, says Musharraf

PRESIDENT MUSHARRAF, dismissing a French intelligence report that Osama bin Laden had died of typhoid, said yesterday that he believed the al-Qa’ida leader to be hiding in the eastern Afghan province of Kunar, possibly with the help of an Afghan warlord. “It’s not a hunch,” the Pakistani President told The Times. “Kunar province borders on Bajaur Agency. We know there are some pockets of al-Qa’ida in Bajaur Agency. We have set a good intelligence organisation. We have moved some army elements. We did strike them twice there. General Musharraf has been in a verbal duel with President Karzai over Pakistan’s role in the War on Terror, with the Afghan leader accusing it of allowing cross-border operations by Taleban from tribal areas. A juicy direct connection was also established between Mahmoud and Republican Congressman Porter Gross and Democratic Senator Bob Graham. They were all in Washington together discussing Osama bin Laden over breakfast when the attacks of September 11, 2001, happened.

Mahmoud’s involvement in September 11 might be dismissed as only Indian propaganda. But Indian intelligence swears by it, and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed the whole story: Indian intelligence even supplied Saeed’s cellular-phone numbers. Nobody has bothered to check what really happened. The 9-11 Commission should pose very specific questions about it to FBI director Robert Mueller when he testifies this month.

There was little doubt some elements of the ISI knew the outlines of the aerial plot against the US and the evidence was turned over to the September 11 Commission three days after its report had gone to press. It was never made public.”
According to de Borchgrave, who has often come up with “colourful” theories, including his assertion once that Bin Laden was living in Peshawar, “Gen Ahmed arranged to be in Washington the week of Al Qaeda’s big terrorist attack, presumably to take the Bush administration’s pulse and gauge probable reactions.”
